Quick Tip: How to change the background image in Webnode templates

Have you ever wanted to change the background image of your Webnode website? Modify the background of your template with your very own image. It’s not as complicated as you may think, keep reading to find out how to do it.

Webnode templates have two kinds of backgrounds: either with an image or in blank color. Previously, we have shown how to change the background color. We’ll now describe how to change the background image. Let’s take a look at the steps with the Joyee template.

Just follow these 3 steps:

1. In the Webnode editor, click on the icon “Website template” and select “My templates”. Save the template to your computer by clicking on “Download the current template” (attention: you’ve currently selected template Joyee!)

 Download the current template button

Where you can download the template to your computer

2. Download the zip file, extract the img folder, and locate the file called bg.gif. That’s your background image. Replace the image with your own image, name it bg, and save it to a .GIF format (other templates have a similar name and format).

3. Zip the template and import it into Webnode.

Done! The image will appear on the website at once.

Choose the new image very carefully. Not all images fit into the template, and not all are pleasant for visitors to see. Always test a new image by sharing it with others, for example with the Webnode community, in blog comments, or on  our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing it!

  • Hi, Nabil

Thanks for reaching us on our blog. There´s no any generalized issue regarding the template uploading. Usually the errors reported when a template is uploaded is due to an error compressing the file. Please contact our customer support department sending the file with the changes you made in the template and they will be happy to help you. The contact is support@webnode.com

Looking forward to hearing from you.
